How does it work?

Explore how Power Shaper, the standard modular system fom Pixii, can be scaled to meet custom requirement from 10-300kW .

Product description

PowerShaper 30kW/65kWh

Complete and integrated energy storage system, ready to be connected to the grid.

The Pixiibox

At the core of Power Shaper, the energy storage solution from Pixii, is the Pixiibox. An advanced bi-directional power conversion unit. Bi-directionality means that the energy flow can go both ways, from grid to the battery and back to the grid, through the same power electronics. This makes the power electronics, compact, reliable and cost effective.

The Pixii Power Shaper

The Pixiibox is modular and many units can be connected in parallel. The desired capacity can be reached by adding the required number of modules to a cabinet.

If more power or energy storage is required, several cabinets can be installed. This makes it possible to scale the system to the power and energy required for a given application.

The Pixii Gateway

The brain and communication center in the Power Shaper is a gateway communicating with all elements within the system as well as the outside world for system monitoring and advanced control, enabling both local flexibility as well as the opportunity for coordinated and flexible fleet management.

Based on own internal measurements in the modules or the gateway, by set timing or by externals signals, the Power Shaper can perform various services to support the grid or minimize the electricity bill.

Avoiding demand charges

In order to manage the overall increase in electricity consumption, distribution companies are looking at ways to push consumers to even out their loads over the day. One mechanism frequently used is "Demand charges". This is typically a monthly charge which is based on the average maximum load averaged over a short time window (15-30 minutes). This can have a significant impact on the electricity bill. Energy storage behind the meter is a good way to avoid it.

When the power peaks, the energy storage system will provide power.

When the power consumption is down, the batteries can again be recharged.

This way the maximum power demand from the grid is reduced and demand charges are limited.

Shifting "Time Of Use" (TOU)

In markets where the kWh cost is changing during the day, for the same reason, The energy storage system can be used in the same way. Batteries are charged when the electricity price is low and electricity is provided from the system when the electricity price is high.

Make the most out of your solar generation.
Use the power yourself and save money

Often will facilities with solar panels on their outer walls or rooftops have times of the day when the solar generation is higher than their own consumption. This energy will typically be sent back to the grid ata very low price or without any compensation at all.

Combining solar generation with energy storage, excess solar energy can be stored for later use and thus maximizing the return on investment in the solar plant as well as the energy storage.

Other (ancillary) services

In addition, the Power Shaper from Pixii can perform a lot of advanced functions contributing to clean, cost effective and reliable electricity, for everyone.

Energy storage from Pixii - a sound investment

The various advantages mentioned above will typically prove that an energy storage system from Pixii is a sound investment. The different parameters vary from market to market, but with a product lifetime beyond 10 years, it will pay off.

Case studies

Research and development is at the core of our business idea – together with our clients we are deploying solutions that reduce power cost without reducing power consumption.

Distribution grids

Energy storage for power quality support and decongestion of distribution networks

Distributed energy storage solutions can help DSO's in meeting challenges due to increasing power peak demands and intermittent power production.

Telecom

Using energy storage to generate revenue on lazy assets in telecom networks

Telecom networks possess a significant energy storage capacity. This can be utilized for "ancillary services" without having any impact on the reliability for the telecom network.

Charging of electrical vehicles

Energy storage interacting with chargers for electrical vehicles

Installing EV chargers can result in costly upstream capacity increase requirements and demand charges.
