Powering the transition in Northern Bohemia

HAVE 2000 transforms its factory into a clean-energy hub with Pixii battery storage

Northern Bohemia has long been associated with the Czech coal industry. Today, the region is also becoming a symbol of the country’s energy transition, as local companies invest in cleaner and more resilient infrastructure.

One of them is HAVE 2000, a Czech manufacturer of industrial gates, doors, and access systems based in Osek. Together with system integrator ENADO and Pixii distributor SOLSOL, the company has deployed a large-scale solar and battery installation that supports both industrial operations and the wider electricity grid.

The challenge

HAVE 2000 wanted to reduce energy costs, secure stable power for production, and create new value from its energy infrastructure through grid services.

At the same time, the company aimed to contribute to a more flexible and resilient local energy system. Together with ENADO and SOLSOL, HAVE 2000 set out to build a combined solar and battery installation capable of supporting both self-consumption and grid-balancing services.

The project

The result is a pioneering energy installation located next to the Bílina lignite mine – a symbolic site for the Czech energy transition.

The project combines a 1.74 MWp photovoltaic power plant with a 3.3 MWh battery energy storage system based on Pixii technology. Developed and implemented over seven months through close cooperation between ENADO, SOLSOL, and Pixii, the installation is among the first large-scale battery storage systems in the Czech Republic prepared for Frequency Containment Reserve (FCR) services.

“Battery storage systems for FCR services are being prepared in the Czech Republic on a large scale, but very few have progressed in practice as far as the one in Osek. That’s why we can proudly say that we are among the first.”

Mikuláš Bindzar, Technical Director of ENADO

The solution

The installation consists of 18 Pixii PowerShaper XL units, each rated at 59.4 kW / 200 kWh, providing a total installed energy capacity of 3.3 MWh.

Key technical parameters:

“Today, protecting energy data is just as important as protecting the grid itself. Pixii systems are designed so customers maintain full control over both data and operation – without dependence on non-European platforms.”

Václav Pavlík, SOLSOL

The results

The Osek project demonstrates how industrial companies can move beyond energy consumption and become active participants in a more flexible and resilient power system.

Key outcomes:

A model for industrial transformation

The project shows that advanced energy technology is not limited to utilities or large-scale energy operators. With the right partners and reliable systems, industrial companies can play an active role in building more resilient and sustainable energy infrastructure across Europe.

Backup power & off-grid operation support
Provide reliable backup power during outages and enable off-grid operation when required. This protects against costly downtime and maintains critical operations.
Arbitrage*
Buy and store electricity when prices are low, and use it when prices rise. This strategy helps reduce costs by supporting loads from the battery during expensive peak hours.
*This functionality is accessible via third-party EMS integration.
Ancilliary services
Generate income from the BESS by providing essential grid-stabilizing services, such as frequency regulation and reserve capacity. By participating in energy markets, you help maintain grid balance while earning revenue from high-demand services that support reliable grid operations
Balance market participation
Rent out battery capacity to support grid stability through frequency regulation. Help grid operators to maintain grid stability and create new revenue streams.
Dynamic load balancing
Distribute available power efficiently across loads to prevent overloads. Avoid costly grid upgrades, and ensure stable operation.
Electricity market participation
Provide access to electricity markets by selling stored energy when prices are high and charging when prices are low, creating additional revenue and improving overall system value.
FCAS (Frequency Control Ancillary Services)
Rent out battery capacity to provide immediate support in the frequency control market, helping stabilize the grid. This service prevents outages, supports virtual power plant initiatives, and generates revenue for the battery owner.
FCR-D (Frequency Containment Reserves – Disturbance)
Rent out battery capacity to provide rapid-response support during grid disturbances. By helping balance frequency fluctuations in real-time, The battery contribute to grid stability while earning income from short-term, high-value energy services.
FFR (Fast Frequency Response)
Rent out battery capacity to provide rapid energy injections within seconds, responding to sudden frequency drops. This service helps grid operators meet regulatory requirements, enhances grid stability, and enable the battery owner, to earn revenue through high-value market participation.
Frequency markets
Battery owners can generate income by delivering rapid-response power injections to stabilize grid frequencyand supports overall reliability. By participating in this market, the BESS maintain reliable power supply and generates additional revenues.
Frequency support
Deliver rapid energy adjustments to stabilize grid frequency and maintain system balance. This service helps minimize deviations from nominal frequency, ensuring regulatory compliance, improving grid reliability, and reducing the risk of outages and system disturbances.
Grid support
Supply extra power during peak demand to increase grid capacity. This helps network operators to avoid costly infrastructure upgrades, while ensuring C&I businesses have the reliable energy they require.
Voltage support (DSO)
Provides dynamic voltage regulation by absorbing or injecting reactive power, helping maintain voltage levels within regulatory limits. This service enhances grid stability, reduces the risk of equipment stress, and improves power quality, supporting efficient network operation and minimizing the need for infrastructure upgrades.
Wholesale electricity trading
As a battery owner you can buy, store, and sell energy in bulk, helping balance supply and demand in electricity markets. This creates opportunities for additional revenue on your battery.
