Pixii to support Thai power grid

Pixii has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) of Thailand and I2 Enterprise Public Company Limited to collaborate on a project to develop battery energy storage systems to support PEA’s power grid.

Prasong Deelee (middle), Assistant Governor for Planning and Engineering, PEA, Kenneth Bodahl (second from left), CEO of Pixii, and Athiporn Limcharoen (second from right), CEO of I2 Enterprise Public Company Limited, at the signing.

The objective of the collaboration is to implement battery energy storage systems on utility poles within low-voltage distribution networks.

This initiative is expected to significantly enhance the efficiency of the power system, thereby supporting the increasing use of electric vehicles and the growth of variability electricity generated from rooftop solar panels.

“The Thai authorities are actively pursuing a plan to increase electricity production from renewable energy sources such as solar and wind. The authorities have made clear that this will require substantial investments in battery energy storage systems to balance the grid. We are excited to have entered into this agreement and see great opportunities in the large and growing market in Thailand.”

Kenneth Bodahl, Chief Executive Officer of Pixii
