Pixii energy storage can operate with most battery modules designed for 48VDC and parallel operation and our systems are compatible with a wide range of battery brands and technologies. LFP batteries typically for more power oriented applications, with the lowest level of cobalt or nickel, and NMC batteries providing the highest level of energy density.
LFP battery technology
Lithium-ion Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries are becoming increasingly popular for applications ranging from electric vehicles to solar energy storage and storage of energy from the grid. LiFePO4 batteries offer a number of advantages, making them an attractive choice for more power hungry applications.
Additionally, because they are composed mainly of iron phosphate rather than other metals such as cobalt or lithium, they are typically less expensive to manufacture and therefore more affordable.
NMC battery technology
NMC batteries, or Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide batteries, typically provide a significantly better energy density. This makes NMC more suitable for e.g. services like arbitrage and own use of solar energy, with low C-rates and more focus on kWh capacity than power (kW).
Longer life span: NMC batteries typically have a longer life cycle life. Although NMC batteries may be slightly more expensive per kWh, the energy density and increased cycle life typically provides a better life time cost.
